Some happy quotes to brighten your day

As anyone who’s followed this blog for a while knows, I love a good quote. Although they often don’t tell us anything we didn’t already know, the fact is they’re usually that little kick we need to get inspired, or feel encouraged, or just to smile after a bad day.

So here are a few of many, many great quotes about happiness. And I know everyone has their favourites – so if I’ve missed out yours, please let me know in the comments 🙂

“The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it.”
Richard Bach

“Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won’t have to hunt for happiness.”
William E. Gladstone

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit)

“If you want happiness for an hour — take a nap.’
If you want happiness for a day — go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year — inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime — help someone else.”
Chinese Proverb

Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.

“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.”
Winnie the Pooh

“A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?”
Albert Einstein

“Caring about others, running the risk of feeling, and leaving an impact on people, brings happiness.”
Harold Kushner

“Two rights don’t equal a left.”
Roald Dahl (The BFG)

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”
James Dean

We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.
