Braving the storm

This week we’ve had some crazy weather, with a mini heatwave followed by dramatic thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday nights.

I’m not a huge fan of storms, mostly because they combine two of my least favourite things – electricity and loud noises. So when the first storm arrived in the early hours of Friday morning, I opted to stay in bed and hope it would all go away. Which it did, but not until about four hours later when it was time to get up and go to work. Doh.

Seeing the dramatic photos everyone else had taken the following day, though, made me regret not at least looking out the window. So when another storm came along the following night, a bit earlier this time, I ventured out to take a couple of shots.

I’m using the resulting photos for this week’s happy post – not just because they came out pretty well but because I feel quite proud that I was brave enough to go out and get them. Maybe there’s hope for me yet.

And no, that’s not my house. Sadly.

  1. I love these pics so well done for being an intrepid photo reporter! I’ve been quite interested in how different my reaction to the storm was compared to most other people. In S Africa, storms are often most welcome after a dry period so I woke up and then fell back into the most relaxed, relieved sleep!

    1. Haha, thanks Mandy! I used to be really scared of storms when I was younger, these days I just find them a bit annoying, especially when I’m trying to sleep! And lightning does still scare me a bit đŸ˜‰
