It occurred to me recently that I complain a lot. It’s not the first time, I know ranting is a bad habit of mine and my long-suffering friends, family and colleagues bear it very patiently.
But every now and again something will happen, either in the news or closer to home, that makes me realise how good my life actually is. Of course there are aspects of it that aren’t quite how I’d like them to be – but then if everything was perfect, I’d have nothing to aim for. I’m lucky to have amazing friends and family, my health, a good job and a roof over my head, and that makes me better off than a lot of people in the world.
I’m under no illusions about myself; I like a good moan and I’m not going to give it up any time soon. But I need to spend a bit more time appreciating what I’ve got, and to focus on the things I enjoy for a change, so that’s what this blog is for!
It may not always be the most exciting life, but it’s mine – and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
(Although obviously if I were to win the lottery this weekend, or bump into Johnny Depp in the pub, I could probably live with it.)
